Next week negotiations with Tottenham on Eto'o

Madrid sports tabloid Marca claims that Barcelona has agreed to meet with Tottenham representatives next week in order to start negotiations on the transfer of Barcelona forward and Cameroonian international Samuel Eto'o (27). Tottenham had first contacted the entourage of Eto'o, who referred the English club to Barcelona.

Willing to hold a first meeting, Barcelona would have set a minimum transfer price of 35 million euro°. Tottenham could be ready to pay the fee since manager Juande Ramos has been promised that enough money is available to make a squad that will be able to compete with the English "big four" (Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool) next season. Ramos wants Eto'o to become the leader of the new and ambitious project.

I would only agree to sell him if we can use this money to buy Benzema as a replacement.

Laporta and Txiki you fools. You want to sell one the hearts of the team?

Only if you already have an agreement for Benzema or Villa, otherwise NO!

You sur cannot sell him before you have an agreement with another top striker, that would be the most foolish thing to do!! So make a list of two-three guys who could replace him, try to make a n agreemnt with those. If that's not possible: no problem, Eto'o just stays.

Can't argue with anyone here, I love Eto'o and he helps us out a lot, we'd have to have someone with as much talent as him or we'll only be hurting ourselves...these guys need to be a bit smarter, they seem almost desperate.

I concur with most of what's been said above. I would be hard pressed to offload Eto'o without first knowing how the dominoes are going to fall upfront. I don't question Eto'o's desire, nor his talents. But you have to weigh those against his mouth,(or for lack of a better term) poor timing, and poor choice of words when it comes to the media; which in turn only sensationalizes his comments even further and adds more unwanted drama and pressure on the club! He CAN be a club house menace. But then again what do you expect from a player who wears his emotions on his sleeve? On his behalf, I doubt there is anyone on the team who takes losing as hard and as personaly as he does.
