Swap deal including Toure and Hleb looked at

British tabloid The Daily Star claims that Barcelona defensive midfielder and Ivory Coast international Yaya Touré (25) could be joining Arsenal as part of the deal that takes Arsenal midfielder Alexander and Belarus international Alexander Hleb (27) to Barcelona.

Arsenal is asking 20 million euro° for Hleb and with Seydou Keita able to cover for Touré, Barcelona would have offered to include Touré in the deal to seriously reduce the transfer fee (read more here). Future Barcelona manager Josep Guardiola is quoted by the tabloid as saying: "Hleb is a man that I desire by his characteristics in the field. He would be a huge success in Barcelona."

After Barcelona reached an agreement with the player earlier this week (read more here) and since Arsenal seems to have accepted the exit of Hleb, it is believed that the two clubs are now negotiating on the transfer fee. Catalan sports paper El Mundo Deportivo claims that Arsenal is asking between 15 and 18 million euro° for the Belarussian.

Selling Toure would be a BIG mistake, the same mistake Real made when they sold Claude Makelele!!

Complete nonsense again. First, Yaya never said he wants to join Arsenal, maybe his brother will join Barça one day :-P

Second, if our board let Yaya go, they should all rot in hell. You can't give up on your best player during the last season and one of the best buys in the last century for Barça...

Didn't Txiki even say that none of the arrivals from last summer will leave this summer?

Yes, but Txiki also kind of said only Sylvinho would get a renewal and now also Pinto got one...

Anyway, since they quote Guardiola (who is now not going to talk with the English media) you can't really believe the story. Although I think that Arsenal could put the name of Touré on the table during the negotiations cause he'll be an excellent player for them.

The only reason you can let Touré go is if you have some medical report saying that his back problems will continue to get worse.

Selling toure would be a mistake and signing hleb would be an even bigger mistake.I remember lots of posts saying we need a goal scoring midfielders.Hleb definitely does not score many goals and if it is his passing and dribbling skills we are after then iniesta is much better than him at both things.I think that 20 million euros would be mcuh better spent on a more effective player like van der vaart.Another player i would like to mention, who amazingly has not yet been linked with barcelona,is Andrey Arshavin. He was the main player behinf zenit's uefa cup success and has shown that he can perform at the highest level. He too has the full attacking package (passing, dribbling, shooting).

YEs, Arshain would be a good addition, as he has steadily improved his game in the last 4 years.
One interesting thing is that he's a long time Barca supporter: at the start of his career he used to get fined by attending training sessions wearing Barca shirt.
However it is unlikely that 'Shava' will leave Zenit soon: he's already earning 3.5 mill (Euros) a year there.
