Tottenham and Manchester City bids for Giovani

British tabloid The Daily Mail claims that Tottenham are favourites to sign Barcelona right wing attacker and Mexican international Giovani Dos Santos (19). The English club would be discussing a 9 million euro° deal with Barcelona.

Despite the interest of other Premier League clubs like Chelsea and Manchester City, Giovani would prefer to join Tottenham manager Juande Ramos. The former Sevilla manager sees the Mexican as a player who can develop in a midfield role and provide chances for the strikers.

British tabloid The Daily Mirror claimed yesterday that Manchester City would have talks with Barcelona about a transfer of Giovani. Pini Zahavi, the agent of Giovani and an adviser of Manchester City president Thaksin Shinawatra, was sent to Barcelona to speak to Barcelona president Joan Laporta.

Manchester City has been considering a transfer for two months (read more here) and would now have made a formal offer of 10 million euro°. The English club has also asked for the latest update on the situation of Barcelona playmaker Ronaldinho (28), as they could try to buy him in a double deal with Giovani.

Our board and Txiki seems to be real idiots these days. Why on earth are they planning to ship away a future star for peanuts? 10 million euro? Are they kidding or what? A player that was developed in our cantera. I'm so frustrated and angry these days.

What the hell happened to take care of our ung talents from La Masia. Laporta, resign and take that stupid and incompetent fool Txiki with you.

I'm afraid it would be a big mistake to let Giovani leave. A loan would be acceptable for him to get more regular first team action but we haven't seen his full potential yet. I'm sure he has a future at the club

I don't see a loan out working, because Gio has already stated that if he leaves Barcelona he will leave them for good and never come back! I only hope that if Barcelona jettison Dos Santos that he doesn't turn into another 'Fabregas' and makes Barcelona rue their decision to sell him. Personally I think he should stay, and Guardiola would be smart to stop playing him as a winger and move Gio to a forward midfielder role which I think he could truly shine in. I believe given the time and patience to develop,Gio could turn into one of the top midfielders in the world down the road.

Gio you did your best, and played injured, and on your wrong position. Please go where your heart tells you, you know Barca is not where they want you and why deal with those fans and media when you can go to Chelsea or Ma City. I am sure you are waiting for Frank to join Chelsea!! Good luck with you decision, I want to see you play mid-field but not at Barca!
