Zambrotta doesn't want to confirm exit

After the Mallorca game yesterday, Barcelona right back defender and Italian international Gianluca Zambrotta (31) again didn't want to pronounce on the rumours linking him with a summer move to AC Milan (read more here) and said that he didn't know if he had played his last game in the Camp Nou: "I only think about finishing and forgetting this season. After that we will see what might happen."

I think this is already a "done deal" as far as his move to AC Milan. I believe he's just trying to be "professional" about the whole issue since he is still under contract with Barcelona. Although why he would wish to stay I realy have no clue? because its becoming more and common to see "defensive type" players come to Barcelona and struggle for whatever reason. Zambrotta isn't the same player he used to be. Abidal has struggled mightily at times (this coming
from "supposedly" the best left back in France.) And Milito...Oh, don't get me started on him! I just don't understand if its all just a weird coincedence or a "product of the system"?

In the beginning of the season our defence was really solid (both in the Liga and the Champions League), so if they're all in shape and motivated we have a great defence.

But Zambrotta should leave. A little 10 million euro and Alves as his succesor.

Sounds like a wonderful plan but where do you suppose "we" are going to get the money to sign him? Del Nido's not going to let him go that easily. And I don't know about you, but I wouldn't pay 40-50million Euro for a player who plays the right-back role on a team. That kind of money should only be reserved for players like Ronaldo, Kaka, Messi, etc. (players who can distrute up front AND put the ball in the back of the net.) Alves is a damn good player, but he's not worth THAT kid of money imo.

With Sevilla not qualifying for the Champions League and Chelsea getting Bosingwa (so not bid race there) I guess 30 million will do.

And yes it's a lot but I think he'll be worth his money. We could get another 15 million euro guy like Zambrotta but then you take again the risk that he won't add anything.

Unless they find a young talent somewhere, I think Alves is the only top right back who's on the market this summer. On paper Alves-Messi just sounds letal...
