Arsenal opens door for Adebayor transfer

Both main Catalan sports papers claim that Barcelona sports vice president Marc Ingla has obtained during his trip to London on Friday (read more here) that Arsenal is now ready to negotiate the exit of Arsenal forward and Togo international Emmanuel Adebayor (24).

Catalan sports paper El Mundo Deportivo claims that one of the key elements was a letter that Adebayor, who couldn't contact Arsenal manager Arsène Wenger, wrote to Arsenal managing director Ken Friar asking the latter to communicate to Wenger the player's desire to leave the English club in the summer and to ask for a meeting to discuss the matter.

British tabloid The Mail on Sunday claims that Wenger and the Arsenal board of directors are also prepared to approve Adebayor's exit because they have been infuriated by the new wage demands of the player.

With AC Milan also interested in the Arsenal striker, a deal on the transfer price has not yet been found. Catalan sports paper Sport claims that Barcelona is offering 29 million euro° while Arsenal is asking 40 million euro°. Most other sources claims that Arsenal would be ready to accept a transfer fee of around 30 million euro°.

The wish of the player could in the end be decisive to bring Adebayor to Barcelona. Catalan sports paper El Mundo Deportivo claims that two of his team-mates have declared to the paper that they received a message on their mobile phone reading "I already see myself in Barcelona."

Catalans sports paper Sport claims that Adebayor and Arsenal have already reached a personal agreement: the Togolese player would sign a four-year contract worth 4 million euro a year.

AC Milan advisor Ernesto Bronzetti meanwhile said in an interview with Italian radio station Radio Radio that the Italian club is still very much in the race although Arsenal prefers to do business with Barcelona: "Let's say the chances are fifty fifty. In the end a lot will depend on the wishes of the player. The thing is that Arsenal wants to sell him to Barcelona and I have heard they have already agreed a deal with the player."

please pep.. tell me that it's not true what the hell??
adebayor for ETO'O???? there is no point even in making a comparision Eto'o repeatedly stated that he still prefers Barca and in the other hand Ady said that he want's milan, and he is right I cant imagin him playing at the la leaga, and no one tell me that Eto'o is toxic and so because we all know that the whole club was in a toxic state last season and for me Eto'o is proffesional player and with a new begining well do perfectly ,
bring Adebayor and make us the joke of the next season.

for me all the names nominated for the center forward position are better options than this narrow minded "close your eyes and shoot player" I'm confident that guardiola have seen how good strikers look like and he wont do this terrible mistake, playing with Henry+Boyan as strikers will be better.
Bara cannot afford bringing a striker that scoures 1 goal for every thousand miss, it simply wont work plus in the PL strikers have aplenty of time and space to move and offcourse this is not the case with the spanish league we simply need a "sniper" some one like Torres, Villa, Ibrahimovic, look in the french league and you'll find one. and believe me he wont cost you half what has been asked for Ade,
thanks

Everybody, calm down. "Anonymous," please keep the racist comments to yourself. Pep has created a nice space here, and statements such as yours can make things very ugly, very quickly. I'm sure that I can speak for Pep when I say that is unacceptable.

Waleed's point about Adebayor preferring Milan is on point. We want a player who wants us.

But these days in the modern game, it's also about money, and I think that at the top level, players will put out for whomever meets their price.

The thing about Adebayor is that he can score against Premiership sides. Don't forget that we have gone out to Liverpool and Man U the last two Champions League outings.

It takes a certain kind of striker to score against those guys, and a certain kind of offense. A tandem of he and Henry in that suggested Guardiola system (above this post) would be very, very impressive. They were almost unstoppable at Arsenal once they learned to play together.

Waleed is also right in that last season was toxic. I think the Eto'o decision is being make with Europe in mind, more than the Liga, now that I think about it.

Something else worth noting is that Adebayor had an almost identical goals to shots ratio as C. Ronaldo, a stat which surprised me.

Krkic is fine for La Liga, but not Champions League, until he puts on some size and strength.

Ibrahimovic wouldn't be a bad option, if he's in play. He'd be expensive, but worth it. Villa will be overpriced, I think, and today's match showed his size complexities. Again, rocks in Spain, not sure about Europe.

Good thoughts, Waleed.

Dont buy this guy! Unless Arsenal will let him transfer to Barca in less than 5 million euro.. Its too expensive!

Get Roman Pavlyuchenko instead!

well Kxevin , to be honest I was also surprised by your statistic, after a terrible season it's understandeble that we become over entuthiastic especially that all the signings so far are promissing and what is missing is only one albeit the most important part of the jigsaw I'm still confident that Pep will make the right decision , I just dont want the atmosphere of the elections affect his dicisions. it's realy a bloody diffecult task
I agree with your point that he and Henry will be make a nice duo
thanks
wish him good luck
