Benzema likes Barcelona

Asked about the rumours linking the player with Barcelona (read more here), Olympique Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas said to journalists that a transfer of Lyon forward and French international Karim Benzema (20) is impossible:

"For 40 or 50 million euro° we might sell one of his ears. It's not a money isuue. The player wants to do something great in he Champions League with Lyon. He's happy in the club and that has been proven by his latest renewal (read more here). I'm sure he'll stay with Lyon until the World Cup in 2010. After that, personally I don't think he'll go to Real Madrid. I think he likes Barcelona a lot."

Catalan sports paper El Mundo Deportivo meanwhile claims that Benzema is no longer afraid of not being able to play a lot when he would join Barcelona. The recent rumours about the possible exit of Eto'o and the weak position of Henry could make him reconsider his wish to stay in Lyon.

I think the headline of the article is a bit misleading Pep. Nowhere did I read that Benzema said he would "like" to play for Barcelona. He may just be open to the possibility. But it's realy a moot point because one day "Player X" says he wants to play for your club, the next day he says he wants to stay at his current club, and the day after that he wants to play for your archrival, etc. Someone needs to make the summer transfer period into a TV reality series! Scandal, betrayal, suspense, what more could you ask for?

I think Aulus may have come close to matching Del Nido for quote of the year so far: "For 40 or 50 million Euro we might sell one of his ears." But I still think I have to go with Del Nido's “For €25 million (£20 million) I send them Daniel’s boots so they can give it to one of their full backs." Either way I think they both have a future doing standup comedy!

The title is the quote from his president... And always be aware of the wink!

Anyway, he didn't really yet show on the Euro why he would be able to replace Eto'o right away.

Well if the team president says so I guess it must be true. LOL!
I'll at least agree with you Pep that so far Benzema hasn't shown much but you can blame Domenech for that! In the first game he plays the lad out of position and he mysteriously omits him in the second game for Gomis who honestly I'd never heard of before in my life! Even so it's not like Benzema has any shortage of teams after his services.
