Principal agreement on Alves

Barcelona sports vice president Marc Ingla and Barcelona sports director Txiki Begiristain travelled to Sevilla yesterday.

During a six-hour meeting with Sevilla president José María del Nido and Sevilla sports director Monchi, both clubs would have reached a principal agreement on the transfer of Sevilla right back defender and Brazilian international Daniel 'Dani' Alves (25).

Barcelona president Joan Laporta returns today from the United States and could finalize the deal.

Catalan sports paper Sport claims that Barcelona will pay 32 million euro°, plus a possible 3 million euro variables in the next five years. The transfer to Sevilla of Mallorca left back defender Fernando Navarro, whose transfer rights are still owned for 30% by Barcelona, should be included in the deal, which could postpone the signature of the Alves deal.

Catalan sports paper El Mundo Deportivo claims the transfer price is 32 million euro, plus 2 million euro variables, plus the 30% of the Navarro transfer fee.

Madrid sports tabloid Marca claims that Barcelona will pay 29 million euro, plus 3 million euro of the Navarro transfer, plus another 3 million euro variabales. Madrid sports tabloid As claims that the transfer price is around 32 million euro.

I think it's a bit overpaid.
32 + 3 on variables + 3.5 navarro
that makes 38.5 for not even a player who makes the difference.
Crazy
I'd rather get benzema or aguero or diego

To Jordy
Crap...How can you want Diego when he is Madrid bound and want to go to Madrid? If he wants Barca I am sure we would be interested in him( same with Nasri )
Aguero? You want attack of Silva( or sb elese)/Aguero/Bojan/Messi to lead attack?I dont!
Benzema-YES, but next season.Henry is staying, give hime a chance at CF and Bojan to progress, and next season sign Benzema...
AND MOST CRAZY!!!
Aguero, Diego or Benzema at RB???LOL

Jordy: you cant count. Its 32 + 3 variables - 3 from Navarro. So 29 + 3 how said Marca.

it doesn't explicitly say that you can do -3, does it? I consider the worst case scenario? Have I said to put these strikers on the RB????
I haven't even nearly said silva joins barça because that deal is off. .I want ronnie to stay as left wing attacker.
so maybe you can start with understanding what I say before you react.
I think it's better to contract players who really decide matches for that price instead of e defender

henry was boeed by the french supporters yesterday.
he is not good enough. why do people prefer Henry above ronnie. henry hasn't done shit. In the tie against man u messi had to shout so he would run.
ronnie has given us so much. ungreateful

And something else. ronnie, cruijff were also real bounds? So am I glad we signed them?
YES

With alves, pique and caceres all signed,we really dont need to worry about signing defenders for at least 3/4 years. So thats good.

As for the henry debate,i think he should be kept at the club only if they are going to play him in the center.Anywhere else he is a liability on the team.As for the left wing position,i think guardiola should have a long and hard talk with ronaldinho and then pep should be the one who decides if he leaves or not.

BTW,i think marquez should be sold now.We are quite stacked at the back.

And who will play at RB???WE NEED RB MORE THAN ANY OTHER POSITION!LW also need, but not as badly...
You can dream on, but Henry is staying ( I am not very happy about that, but that is reality). My point about silva and attack is that they are all very small players-no power at attack.
Hey, man, be real!R10 is gone long ago.If you want to keep him, play FM or WE...here is debate about real life.
And you want who at RB( very, very important position for future barca)??Ogg?

I dont prefer Henry over R10, no way...BUT he is going, and Henry is staying...Consider the FACTS!Even if R10 stays there is no need of another striker like Benzema or Aguero cuz we will be again Fanrastic Four, Five or Six next year and finish like this season...
Barca need RB( Alves hopefully), MC-Moutinho, Lucho, Hleb, LW if R10 is going, and powerfull second striker- Guiza, Huntelaar or Trezeguet...No more supersignings please!

huntelaar is far from powerfull
I don't see the link between R10 and a striker?
a striker is instead of eto'o, not?

Anonymous said...

Yes instead of Etoo if he leaves...
About R10 read again my post...I said no need for world class strikers, just cover for Eto(Like Larsson was).Put Henry in the center, R10 left (if stays), messi right, and there is backup od Bojan and another powerfull striker...

Well, comparing Huntelaar to Aguero,Etoo or Bojan, he could be considered powerfull. He can play with his back to goal and head the ball...

Despite Alves' wealth of talent I still feel Barcelona paid too much for him. But give Del Nido credit, he knew that Barcelona was desperate to get him (at all costs) and he milked them for every last penny. I won't deny Alves' immense talents but at what cost?...What's bothering me the most lately is this air of desperation emminating from Barcelona. Other teams know that Barcelona is desperate to sell players like Dinho and Eto'o and thus no one's knocking down our door to get them. The same goes for transfer targets. Barcelona didn't get any "deal" from Sevilla for Keita and Alves, if anything it was quite the opposite! Barcelona "looked" desperate to buy, and thus waaaay overpaid for the pair in the end. Yes, I understand Barcelona will always have to pay a bit more due to the club they are, but this was excessive in my opinion.

Yes, the price is really high...but Barca want him and he wants to go to Barca and the problem's solved. I think they (Barca chairmen) could get him earlier before nonsense signing Keita. It would be great to sign Van der Vaart or Ben Arfa instead of Hleb for the left wing. And as I can hear today there's some things about Trezeguet. For fuck sake he's 30 and there's no room for him in Barca, just like Henry. Get rid of him (Henry) and get Huntelaar, Palacio or even younger player. Eto'o MUST stay!

Dani Alves is a good player and a good right back is needed in Barcelona but not for that price. We already have a really great right back in Puyol, can't see him playing in the centre now that we have Marquez, Pique, Caceres, Milito in the squad. And Marquez should definatly not leave he got something the others dont have, he knows how to pass a ball. There are other good options out there, Sagna (Arsenal), Clerc (Lyon), Sagnol (Bayern), Richards (City)m
