Meeting with Roma on Mancini scheduled

Roma football site La Roma Siamo Noi claims that Barcelona sports director Txiki Begiristain will meet later this week with his AS Roma colleague Daniele Pradè later to discuss the transfer of Roma winger Amantino Mancini (27).

Asked about the rumours linking the Brazilian player with a move to Barcelona (read more here), Mancini's agent Gilmar Veloz didn't want to enter the issue during an interview with the site: "You need to ask Roma. I don't know what's going on with Barcelona, you should ask the clubs. I can only talk about Mancini and say that he has a contract until 2009."

what will be the position of mancini in barcelona. right back?
unfit it is for someone has been playing attacking winger for the past 3 -4 years. to convert him back to RB will be a disaster. Alves will still be the right choice. Seeing the Netherlands' game yesterday made me realise the idea on how will it be for next season's formation. Indeed 4-2-3-1 will be one that guardiola might be choosing. somehow this could be the trend for the next few years. The formation is suitable a posessive team, that strong in the midfield, strong against counter attacj even can make the counter attack so decisive in game. rather than using posession as the only method of the game.

I guess Mancini could play everything from right back to left wing forward.

And Barcelona will never play with two controlling midfielders, so 4-2-3-1 isn't an option, I think.

do you still remember when there were cocu davids and xavi as our midfielders. that formation leads Barca from the drop zone to second in the league. two defensive (box-to-box ) midfielders will allow the full backs as attacking options. it gave Xavi more freedom to orchestrate the team. I still believe this the davids-cocu-xavi and bommel-deco-xavi are the best midfield trio barca ever had in Rijkaard era. rather than now barca depending much to toure for cover both side, right back and left back. where most of the goals the team let in came from the flanks. With hleb and messi, now they can change flanks like what barca did with figo and rivaldo did ten years ago. it will beautiful to watch. only need a goal getter. big one

Davids played in an offensive role then, covering Ronaldinho's back, so that was a 4-3-3 with only one real defensive midfielder (Cocu) staying in position before the defence.

Guardiola will play for 4-3-3 anyway, so no need to start speculating too much, I guess.

Or 3-4-3? =) . We have enough central defenders for that at least. Maybe Alves is all smoke while the board are looking for other positions. Nah, lets not go wild.

mancini will avalible in role of left winger I guess.
And i had recognised about argentina in WC2006 that back 4 was reformed in 3 and LWB Juan pablo Sorin, Impressive attack, just like argentina6-0Serbia&montenegro.
Now, may it be Albes in RWB when attackin, Puyol Caseres and Pique are central defenders, back4 when defence.

He's the classic "jack of all trades, master of none" type player. Versatility and "value" may be the strongest arguments in his favor. A couple of things worry me though...1.)If he doesn't get regular playing time is he going to become a disruptive force in the locker room? and 2.)Why on earth would he consider coming to Barcelona without a guarantee of being a first team player, and having a concrete position to play on the squad? I suppose only Guardiola has the answer to that one.
