OFFICIAL: Zambrotta to AC Milan

Barcelona has announced the transfer of Barcelona right back defender Gianluca Zambrotta (31) to AC Milan.

Zambrotta, whose contract with Barcelona expired in 2010, will sign a four-year contract with Milan.

Barcelona receives 9 million euro° plus 2 million euro° depending on Milan qualifying for the Champions League in the next four years.

AC Milan already announced the deal on the 31st of May.

Zambrotta arrived in Barcelona from Juventus two years ago in a package deal with Lilian Thuram (14 million euro for Zambrotta, 5 million euro for Thuram). With Barcelona, Zambrotta won one Spanish Super cup in 2006.

pep's opinion:
good transfer price. for me the most disappointing transfer since i can remember. he arrived here probably being at the same time the best right back ànd best left back defender in the world, we had a problem for years at the right back position (and maybe at the left back postion too), so the transfer looked a sure winner but in two years he added almost nothing to the team. i'm nevertheless quite sure he'll be back to a decent level in the serie a. thanks and good luck to him.

I agree with you Pep. Zambrotta just never seemed comfortable at Barcelona and always seemed out of place. Wether it had something to do with a different style of play, or role that Barcelona asked of him or just the fact that he was so used to playing the Italian style of football, he just never fit in. I think he'll fit in nicely at Milan. I wish him all the best.

It's a pity because Zambro is a great player, but in Barça he never found the place...
Btw, there is a hot gossip out there about the future of Ronnie... They say he could end up in R.Madrid or A.Madrid. It's been said in the Spanish radio (Cadena Cope) and now in a well-known Spanish blog(link is in Spanish):

Sounds like bullshit, but you never know...

Number two: you have quite a narow-minded interpretation of catalanism.

Well, Eduard, if Atlético really would want to pay 40 million euro...

In England they now say that Ronaldinho has asked Sccolari to take him to Chelsea.

I know I'm not really focusing on the Ronaldinho (and Eto'o) stories but there has been too much other news out there and basically nothing changed anyway: Ronnie wants to Milan but Milan doesn't want to pay the asking price, Manchester City wants to pay a decent fee but Ronnie doesn't really want to go there.

But one of these days I'll throw myself on the stories and you'll have a daily update. To the finish!!!
