Eto'o will only leave for the right price

Asked about the situation of Barcelona players Ronaldinho and Eto'o, Barcelona economic vice president Ferran Soriano has said at a press conference yesterday that the two players will only leave if an appropriate bid comes in:

"Selling players is not only a technical decision, it's also an economic decision. Barcelona will only sell Ronaldinho and Eto'o if the right market price is paid. If that's not the case, they will not leave. And like the coach has said before, we will then do everything to get the best out of them."

Madrid sports tabloid Marca claims that Barcelona will not make a formal offer for Arsenal forward Adebayor before Barcelona forward and Cameroon international Samuel Eto'o (27) has left the club.

Catalan sports paper Sport meanwhile claims that Eto'o wants to know as soon as possible where he will play next season. On Tuesday all parties involved could hold a decisive meeting to accelerate the negotiation process. Although he has several offers on the table, Eto'o would prefer to join AC Milan.

I already have a bad premonition about this. Laporta's going to survive the vote of no confidence by the skin of his teeth and shortly thereafter sell Eto'o for far less than market value. Call it a gut feeling. And it would be a slap in the face to all the socios who stood by him during the voting.

first time i think the board have given a (rather)good statement ..rather than saying we want to offload the players..since even after a good run in euro we got just 10m for decco due to our earlier comments..but then also etoo i feel is better than ade (under good staff to contolthe player)..and i feel r10 is gona return to his fitness top fitness level ..and then his good form will follow ..we just need to supp him and give him time ...olypics will be good place 4 him to get his touch back....

Laporta should survive the vote. If you look at what the club has done during his tenure, the vote would be a no-brainer. But hardly anyone is thinking about the situation, so it will be a close vote.

The club has already said that Eto'o and Ronaldinho will NOT be sold for peanuts, even if that means keeping them. And I can assure you, I'm giddy over the prospect of a sullen fatass with lots of ball tricks and a cranky Cameroonian spending another season being what they were last year, and moving one step closer to being available on free transfer.

Now that would be precisely the dumb management that people accuse Laporta of. Those guys are done in Barcelona. Period. They might find new life somewhere else, but they are toast here. The technical staff knows that. We have the unfortunate task of trying to sell damaged goods, when we absolutely have to.

Selling them next season, in the last season of a contract will result in the same fire sale price that we got for Dos Santos.

As for Deco, rarely do players appreciate in value, particularly ones brushing 30 years old, coming off two mediocre seasons. We paid 18 and sold him for 10. We also got his best years. Good deal, I say.
