Gudjohnsen likely to leave this summer

Asked about the rumours linking Barcelona attacker and Iceland international Eidur Gudjohnsen (29) with English Premier League clubs Aston Villa, Manchester City, West Ham and Portsmouth, the player's agent and father Arnor Gudjohnsen has said in an interview with British television channel Sky Sports that the player will probably leave Barcelona and would be interested in a move back to England:

"I have seen some speculation about Eidur and Aston Villa, but I don't think he was very keen on that. I think if he was to return to England he would prefer to go to London or Manchester rather than Birmingham. There are a few clubs interested, but there is nothing serious at the moment. I think he will leave Barcelona and he is keeping his options open at present."

take our striker... please!

i like Eidur, he seems like a genuinely nice, down-to-earth kind of guy, but he's just not cut out for La Liga. good luck to him back in England, and hopefully we can sell him to City so that their Thai oligarch sugardaddy can overpay us for him.

Exactly. I say the same thing to him that I say to Eto'o and Ronaldinho. Get out. Don't stay where you aren't wanted, and don't let the door hit you in the ass.

I like Gudjohnsen as a player/person. He's a nice guy who works hard and always makes his best effort. As has already been pointed out, he just isn't for La Liga.

I'll at least give a tip of the hat to Guddy for being acting so professionally during his brief stay with the club. He could have easily vented his frustrations and become just another "head case" on the squad, but he chose to remain calm and always acted in a dignified manner. I wish him all the best and success wherever he winds up. It's just too bad his professionalism didn't rub off on some of the other, more established players.

I remember when Eidur backed Ronaldinho when he was getting heavily criticized and said he would prove the doubters wrong the next game. That next game Dinho scored two goals and Dinho went over to him and celebrated with Eidur as if to say he told you so. He's a good guy, hope he does well where ever he goes.
