hernanes is a good player for the future. 16.5m for capel really isn't that much. I don't think we'll get him. think he wants to stay with sevilla. what a pity

don't buy wether hernanes nor capel. we have enough young talented players. we need a replacement for ronaldinho, a number 10, a player who can play on the left wing and can both score and assist. buy arshavin or neves before someone else do.

No no no......dont put Iniesta on the left. It would be a waste of his supreme talent, he needs to be in the middle of the park. We need a proper left winger, either Capel, Arhsavin or Neves.....and for those of you who dont think Neves is a left winger because he doesnt play that pos for Brazil u need to watch him play for Fluminese. He is perfectly capable of playing on the left. He has a killer shot and he is an excellent passer of the ball. He may not be Ronaldinho but I think he can get the job done down the left. Also he is versatile enough to play as an attacking mid in case of injuries.

i think that you sould run for arshavin because is very good and is gonna give to you more many that the one that you are payng for him....capel is good...it's another option....they both have talent but the better option is arshavin

Either Capel, Arshavin or Neves would be good enough. Not so good to buy Hernanes. Yes, he's a good player but he won't fit into the team. Barca has got enough midfeilders. If he's in the squad, Iniesta will have to play left wing attacker which is not the best for him. Only buy Hernanes if he can play left wing attacker.

why not go on angel di maria?
seems like a good option (and cheaper)

he was very impressive in the olympic games... and he and messi seems to understand eachother on the pitch, and even without messi i think a winger like him is perfect for barca, both fast and strong, can deliver great passes and has strong shots... plus he is young (20) and has a long way ahead of him.

dont you agree?

i've only seen di maria in couple of olympic gamesbut he does look quite impressive. i havent got a clue about him though, club, price etc? would still prefer neves, loan out pedro or jeffren and keep other as back up if neves flops. capel not suited as doesnt score enough goals or have skills needed for barca, plus he is a madrid fan, so get neves.

Di maria for sure is the best option, but madrid are after and they will get him. because we are getting their youth product a f ucking madirdista capel stupid guy, he aint worth a single penny.

Jeffren and Capel seem like they are brothers, they are identitical they just run with their head turned to ball without havin an idea whats happening on the pitch.

Whats with the hatred towards capel, he is not a madridista, he was actually a product of our youth system and comes from andalucia, so i dont get why everyone thinks this! Also he may not score many goal but i think pep is looking for a wing who can cross, he has identified that we need to score more goals from headers, i believe in the pre-season we have scored more headed goals than all of last season, capel would be ideal for this. Neves and arshavin are not proper wingers.

Anonymous said...

The reason why there is so much hatred towards Capel is that he has been quoted as saying he is a fan of Madrid and would love to play for them, or something along those lines.

I actually agree with those saying that capel would be the best alternative. He can provid with something different compared to what the other players in the squad can. Iniesta, Hleb and Henry are probably better players, but they don´t know how to keep the width in the field. Capel can do so, and that gives Guardiola plenty of options which can never be wrong. Think abot the time with Guly and Ronnie and the wings. This would provide the same dynamics but with Messi beeing the creative (and alves filling the width) and capel dragging the defence towards the left! For the price mentioned it's a bargain!

Di maria is also an excellent option. Di maria or capel. To keep the field wide

I still don't know if Arshavin's the answer to Barcelona's "problem" but one thing is clear to me; much like Sao Paulo has done with Hernanes, Zenit is not only doing the player a disservice by taking such a hardline position, they are also hurting themselves in the process as well.

Zenit's season has been a complete disaster. The club is in dissaray, Arshavin's been on "strike" and with each passing day his value only decreases. Seeing that Arshavin's stock was at an all time high Zenit gambled and placed an over inflated pricetag on the player, much like Valenica did with Villa. The key difference being that Valencia (wether believable or not) put forth a stance from day one that they weren't interested in selling Villa. While Zenit, seeing that they could potentially have a gold mine in their hands never hid the fact that Arshavin was available to the highest bidder. In the end Villa remains "settled" at Valencia knowing the club never wanted to sell him all along. While Arshavin is left dangling in the wind and no amount of begging on his part is making Zenit budge off their asking price, at least at the moment.

At this point I can't understand Zenit's stubborness to continue to hold onto the player. The season is lost, the fans don't know if Arshavin is coming or going. Arshavin is pouting and wants out in the worst way. And it deprives the Russian people themselves of proving just how successfull one of their own can be in a top flight league, playing for one of the most recognized teams in the world. Just imagine the impact, pride and respect Arshavin could bring to his Motherland should he find success at Barcelona. No longer would Russian players have the stigma of being inferior to other players from other countries because they play in an inferior league. And hopefully it would open the eyes of other clubs to look towards Russia for Russian homegrown talent rather than only showing interest in foreign players playing for Russian clubs.

I don't think I'm understating the "impact" that Arshavin's presence could have at Barcelona or another top flight club. It goes far beyond the pitch. Sure, there is always the chance he might fail under such "pressure". But he also could be playing with a chip on his shoulder, proving all his critics and skeptics wrong, that he is more than capable and talented enough to make an impact on a premier club. In that case he will no longer be playing for himself, but representing the entire people of Russia as well. It could be a history moment that tragically may never come to pass. A pity for Arshavin, but an even greater shame for the people of Russia.

excellent post conjonudo. spot on.

many people here miss the fact that we should have gotten Van der Vaart and we would have been set. He was a better choice then Hleb anyway. Then we could have played any of the prospect left out there for Barca on the left wing and we would have been in good shape. but does the barca board think that way? of course they don't. this would have made the job for us much easier. i could go on but it's all self-explanatory.....

first of all indeed great post cojonudo.

second,
van der vaart is a fabulous player, and the fuckers from madrid did a good job bringing him for such a low price.
BUT, i dont think he is suitable to play LW. he is much more a center midfield playmaker, and puting him on the left wing will not get the best of him for sure!
we already have xavi, iniesta, yaya and keita on those spots, so i really dont think van der vaart should have even been an option,
maybe instead of hleb yeah, but remember hleb is much more versatile then him...

madrid are into Di Maria, and for a good reason, but i think for them its a wrong decision, unless they are letting robinho go.
and even so, they still have arjen robben who is one of the best player in the world in that position.
We must snap di maria!
who knows... last time a player was stolen from the clubs, and his last name started also with a "Di", it ended with him becoming a legend.
i hope you all know what im talking about... maybe the all time biggest miss by barca. damn franco!!

Man Van der Vaart is not that fabulous. He wouldn't work for us. All he does is put in crosses and freekicks and he is sloooooow. He can't play LW and Hleb is 5x more versatile than him because he can use both feet as well as play different positions. Did anyone notice VdV at Euros? Yeah, not really. Sneijder played way better than VdV who was not special at all. You guys need to stop watching highlights and watch a 90 min game in order to evaluate a player. You see a few tricks and goals in youtube then you are in love.

Di Maria, 20 years old, with Benfica since 2007, 30 million euro buyout clause

Good post, cojonudo.

Although I wouldn't compare it with Hernanes, since also financially Sao Paulo is really hurting the player, while Arshavin earns as much (or even more) in Russia than he would with us or Tottenham.

If you see Hernanes play at the Olympics, no way he is worth 25 million euro. No club will ever pay that amount for this kind of player. 15 million really seems the limit, unless he really keeps on developping. But can he still develop in Brazil? Don't think so.

And Van der Vaart, please... He will be like Sneijder: he will score a nice winning goal in three-four games but we won't see him in the rest of the games and he's certainly no added value in the Champions League. And we really don't need another player like that (something between midfielder and attakcer). Didn't convince in the Supercopa last weekend. Well, the whole team of Madrid again didn't convince. Valencia deserved more than this 3-2 win.

I agree about VDV, definitely not what we need right now. We have more than enough midfield players. What we need is a pacy left winger. I like the idea of Capel who is fast, young and would provide a completely different option from the left. Most importantly he would spread the defence, which would make it very difficult for teams to just pack the centre of the box and stick 5 players around Messi. At the moment all of our left wing players prefer to cut in so they dont really open up the defensive line. Capel may not be as skilled as other players, but I think what he would provide would be priceless! I also like Neves because I think he may become an amazing football player one day. That being said, right now I think we would benefit more from Capel. As for Arshavin, well I have to say a few good games in the Euros is not a good enough reason to buy a player and Russia is not a good enough league to really judge a player. Plus he is not gonna get any better at 27!

Has anybody heard about Ricardo Noir? He plays for Boca and apparently we want him. Never heard of him before......any of you guys know anything about him.

P.S Di Maria would be the best buy in my opinion....but as somebody else mentioned he will probably end up at Madrid! Bastards.....

Capel played a very nice match with Spain vs Denmark. He and Xavi hooked up well several times. I wouldn't mind his signing.

thank you pep.

just promote iago falque!! i think he good enough for the back up....and dont forget we still have henry, bojan, hleb,or jeffren who can fill the left wing....zio from indonesia

We are all well aware of the capability of various of our players to play LW. But again, it not being their natural position really puts down their skills, which can be most efficient when you put them on their natural spot...

Someone must enlighten the board with the fact that di maria is available!
