Barcelona closely following Asenjo

Asked about the rumours linking the player with a move to Barcelona (read more here), Fernando Redondo, the agent of Real Valladolid goalkeeper and Spanish youth international Sergio Asenjo (19), has said in an interview with Catalan sports paper Sport that the player is totally focused on his club at this moment:

"Asenjo would of course like to go to Barcelona, because it's a top club that plays for the trophies, but at this moment he's aware that he still has to learn a lot and he only think about keep making progress with Real Valldolid."

The paper claims that Barcelona goalkeeping coach Juan Carlos Unzué went to watch the goalkeeper last week in his team's match against Athletic Bilbao. Asenjo, who has a contract with Real Valldolid until the summer of 2011, would have a buyout clause of 5,5 million euro°.

barca staff should hurry up, since the kid is showing tons of potential and has the buyout clause of as little as 5,5M.. valdes needs some real competition (sorry pinto..) which im sure make him better.im not saying he is a bad goalkeeper though

Sell Gudjohnsen to West Ham for a fee of 6,5M and buy Asenjo.
Other suggestions:
1. Akinfeev (CSKA)
2. Malafeev (Zenit)
3. Ochoa (America Mexico)
4. Demirel (Fenerbahce)
5. maybe Lloris (Lyon-but he just signed) and Neuer (but he would be expensive and maybe will be like Enke, so no Germans)

To HouseMD.. i dont think we're at a situation whereby we need to sell someone to buy another guy lol.

I personally think if hes showing that he can make it here, by all means sign him.

2. Kasper Schmeichel
3. Kameni
4. Rui Patricio

neuer and rene adler(leverkusen) are the best choices! i'm german and i know they'll be world class keepers soon! trust me german keepers are always good... there's just to few people paying attention to the german league... but if this kid is good go for him! i don't have anything for valdes but he really is an average keeper... even u guys who are always defending him you have to admit that.

Yeah, can we stop suggesting names based on football manager? Akinfeev hasn't even made a blip on the radar of the big clubs.

First and foremost, you guys are joking about kameni right? Dont get me wrong he's a great keeper and I would love him to be on theteam but Espanyol would never give us a player even if he was the worst baller on the planet. Come on do you call yourselves fans, do you not understand rivalry? I thought it wwas apparent from the last match just how just how strong the passion is between the clubs.
Anyway Neur is good, so is Boruc but and i would be first to agree that Valdes needs competition but lets not forget that we have a good keeper on the B team in the form of Mino. I am not against buying players but it needs to be balanced, youth should at least have the oppurtunity to prove themselves. You guys would never have known Busquets if he wasnt given a chance, though for a keeper he may need more than one game to show his true potential should he have it.

I read at goal.com that ManU will buy him in summer. But there says that some other guy is his agent, so I hope this is not true, and that Barca gets him.
