Manchester City will launch bid on Messi

British tabloid The Sun claims that Manchester City manager Mark Hughes has been told by Sulaiman Al-Fahim, a board member of the Abu Dhabi United Group, the new owners of the English Premier League club, that he can bid 100 million euro° for Barcelona right wing attacker and Argentinian international Lionel Messi (21) Lionel Messi as soon as the next transfer window opens in January.

Al-Fahim said in an interview with the tabloid that he wants City soon to be the biggest club in the world: "We aim to be in the top four this season, we aim to win the Premier League next season and within three years from now we want to win the Champions League. We have the money and the manager to do it. We aim to have the best players in the world at Manchester City and one of the most exciting teams around, that everyone will want to watch.

We have a great manager with the same passion and commitment that we have. I will be meeting Mark to discuss the plans. Every transfer will be made with his full consultation. If we can get the biggest players in the world, then we will get them. My personal favourite player in the world at the moment is Ronaldinho, who City have tried to get. But believe me we will try again with Mark’s agreement — and get him.

We are not here to do battle with people, we just want to do what’s best for this club. That means being the best and going past the likes of Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester United. By the time the next transfer window comes around in January the whole world of football will become aware of what is going on here and what our plans are. That is when the opportunity will be greater to get this club the best players. When I put my mind to something and set myself a target I achieve it. We are going to be the biggest club in the world."

I cannot believe this. This is not about football anymore. I just hate these rich morons like Abramovich and those oil-drillers. You have no idea about football. If you want to spend your money give it to Darfur, Somalia and the other poor African people without food and water in 21st century. Brave new world.

if any of u guys remember, i already told u they will be comming for messi, now regarding the buy out clause, simply forget it, knowing these people i tell u that will not stop them, 50M and 500M taste the same for them, they have unlimited financial resources, forget about inrahimovic, he is just a little wealthy boy, those people own treasures of oil, companies, industries, beside owning a country with everything in, so what will make messi stay is only HIS DESIRE to stay, nothing else to count on.
By the way when u say "no thanx" they get more determinante to get u and offer more, specialy when it turn to be ur word against their word, the thing is how much barcelona will get and how much messi will?

yes ramzi,u got it right, its now left to messi if they propose the bid for him cos everybody would be after the urge sum amount this animals are bringing.but if messi really had the love and passion to stay put at barca.i certainlly believe he would be replying by'NO THANX.'any time they come.but i also thouhgt barca should remember this is the player they realy cant afford to miss cos we all knew the impact of messi in this team.so they shouldnt look at the money{if those idiots come with there tooking millions}but consider the health of the team.

Well if we set a buyout clause of 500M euro then at least we become the richest club in the world =)

Allow me to remind everyone that two years ago, selling Ronaldinho would have been unthinkable.

Prima facie, Messi being sold is a notion that is beyond absurd.

But stuff happens.

Citeh is out to change the face of world football. At some point, a player's pride and love of club comes into play. This is a dying notion in the face of contracts with absurd numbers of zeroes in them.

Guys who were signed when they were already famous are one thing. Such as Ronaldinho. But when a player comes up through the club, as Messi has, you hope to presume that such things count for a lot more than money.

Kxevin I agree with you 100%!

I for one am not worried in the least bit about this. Not that I know Messi personally but I think I know him well enough to conclude that he is not anything like Robinho. Messi has pride, and has shown nothing but loyalty to Barcelona and vice versa. No, Messi doesn't "own" Barcelona anything at this point, but I think it's pretty clear that he has no intentions of leaving the club anytime soon.

Sure, if the offered was made and Messi agree to a move that would be his decision. But he would lose a lot of fans and respect around the world. Not that he would care with so much money, but he doesn't appear the type to sell his soul to the highest bidder.

I also believe that even if an offer was made,Barcelona would have to agree to transfer the player and I don't see Laporta and Txixi doing that anytime soon unless they want to put their lives at risk. Losing Ronaldinho, even out of form was one thing, losing Messi on top of that would be tantamount to burning Camp Nou to the ground.

I think Messi is loayal but I also think it will greatly depend on the team we can build around him. If Barcelona wouldn't have a team anymore that can fight for the Champions League, then I think it's normal he would want to leave at some point.

Like Cojonudo says: he has pride. But this also means he will want to win trophies during his career.

The confidennce of the manchester city board makes me sick. they want to become the best in the wotld in 3 seasons. i wanna puke. how disgusting that they want to do like chelsea.

they got robinho because the guy was money minded. ronaldinho could have gone there if he wanted money. but he clearly said that he wanted competition and not money.

as for messi, he is not ronaldinho. ronaldinho could never stay too long at barca. bt messi is a barca product. the history between messi and barca goes way back.
messi looks loyal. he has a big contract with barca coming up. and definitely he knows that there is a significant quality difference between barca and city.

robinho was nothing in madrid. he wanted to become important. so he went to city out of desperation and disgraced himself.

messi know how much barca needs him. i am confident mesi will not fall in the money trap.

i dont mind if city takes henry though. this will force barca to buy someone. bt i doubt that henry will go to a ridiculous club like city.

i want to see the faces of the man city board members wen city comes crashing down and wen their money tricks stop working..

FIFA should intervene in this matter as fast as possible. there should be a limit in financial stuffs in football before the rich, boring and highly unskillfull english teams destroy the spirit of football!!

wadya think guys?

is this kind of behavior even about football anymore

You know I can't understand how Manchester City's board can be so fucking ignorant and stupid.

yeah i know they have money pouring out of their ass but money cant buy everthing, like pride for your club.

Messi will avoid the money trap when Man City offers their bid, I'm sure,he's just to smart for that.I mean he has a lot of money right now, and you can only do so much with money.

and another thing that bothers me is that they want to buy all the futbal stars outhere, they want C.Ronaldo,Messi,Eto'o,Henry,Ronaldinho and many more, are they fucking crazy.

Look at Chelsea, did they win a champions leagetitle since Abrahimovic bought them,noooooo...,and he brought some grate players to the club,

and dont forget abou the New York MetroStars short lived career with their crazey money spending they did,but thats a different story.

so the point i'm trying to make is that you can buy all the futbal stars in the world Man C, but you cant buy a trophies.

and there plan to buy the best players in the world will somhowe backfire.i'm sure of it,FIFA will make some new laws on spending money and some shit like that or they will run out of money ,unlikely though,

but i'm certain that Messi will stay at barca, plus the Manchester city's jerseys are fucking ugly, hahahah

forza barca!
