Celtic Glasgow interested in Sylvinho and Jeffren

Catalan sports paper El Mundo Deportivo claims that Scottish champions Celtic Glasgow is interested in Barcelona left back defender Sylvinho (34).

The contract of Sylvinho expires next summer and Celtic thinks he could bring some international experience to the club.

Celtic would also be looking at the option of offering Barcelona Atlètic wing attacker Jeffren Suárez (20 - picture) a loan deal and could already make an offer in January (read more
here). Jeffren, who is represented by his father Efrén, is also followed by other clubs but would like to take part in the Champions league or the Uefa cup.

I think the Relation between Barcelona and Celtic is a very fruitful one, it offer Celtic quality players to enrich their squad, and release some pressure from Barcelona shoulders for being a club with a huge stream of youth talents that demand an opportunity to express themselves, in Celtic they can have that opportunity, got published before they return to Barcelona if they proved their worth, I wish if Barcelona can do something like that with a Portuguese club, that league is much better to prepare players for La liga.

i disagree Ramzi. you cant tell me that Henrik Larsson, Rino Gattuso, Mikel Arteta for example havent flourished and developed their careers in Scotland. Sure Scotland is not the greatest league but what it does do is make you physically fitter and certainly stronger.

plus the pressure here is MUCH greater than playing for a sporting lisbon or benfica. you MUST win the title with celtic or rangers.

with regards to the interest! a left back!!! wooohooo! theres a though celtic! about time :)

doffen I am not saying Scottish league is bad, but Portuguese league is simply similar to Spanish league, so if you have a young Brazilian in Santos for example, its better to buy him and loan him to porto before using him in Barcelona, than sending him to Celtic, he will have in Portugal same atmosphere , almost same culture, style of game - technical, and a similar language.

There are more young players who come from Portugal and shine in major teams than from Scotland, there is a reason for that;)

That wouldn't benefit the player in any way at all Ramzi. A player going to Scotland will be taught different style of football and he will get physically fitter and mentally more prepared to take on the challenge in La Liga.

I see what you're saying, but it doesn't really work like that. If a player joins Barcelona at 14 and trains and plays with them until he's 19 or 20, he's already had 5-6 years of Spanish football, so he knows what it's all about. Spending two, possibly a few more years on loan at a club like Celtic will broaden his views, give him a much better learning curve than if he were to continue learning the same sort of football in another country that he was already learning in his previous country.
