Medical: Alves could be fit for next Liga game

Catalan sports paper El Mundo Deportivo claims that Barcelona hopes that right back defender and Brazilian international Daniel Alves (25) will return as soon as possible from Brazil so he can recover from his injury in Barcelona.

Alves has been called-up for the Brazilian national team and has to travel to his home-country to meet with the medical staff of his national football association.

Barcelona's doctors elaborated a medical report about the problems of the player with the quadriceps of his right leg which prevented him from playing the league game against Atlético Madrid on Saturday (read more here).

The paper claims that Alves could have suffered the injury during the Champions League game against Shakhtar Donetsk last Wednesday. Barcelona hopes the right back can be fit for the next league game against Athletic Bilbao in two weeks.

We played our best football this season without Alves, do we really need him back? He haven't impressed me yet. Has a lot to show since he cost us 30 million.

Too early, he also has to adapt to our way of playing, give him some time.

I am full of joy for last game performance, but we don’t need to make permanent conclusions based on that, Alves is a need for the team, specially in at least 60 % of the games when Barcelona play against 10 men in the box, Barcelona need the player who open the field on the right flank, or else Messi will have to play that old role again, now I don’t know if anyone complain about playing Messi as a second striker as its going now, but I think that tactical move made the big deference.
