Hleb (2): "I miss Cesc a lot"

Barcelona player Alexander Hleb gave an interview to Catalan sports paper Sport.

Santander player Pinillos gave you a though welcome to the Spanish league. How did you feel about that injury?
Sometimes football in Spain is played too dirty. In England, they play hard, but fair. They go for the ball. In Spain, you have defenders who are always looking for your knee or your ankles. That's one of the things that surprised me most about Spanish football. Those tackles from behind just aren't acceptable. I wasn't expecting this.

The fans are surprised about the great stat of the season. You are too?
Not at all. This is Barcelona and we play how it is understood Barcelona should play. Barça is Barça, please. You don't have to lower the standard. The way we're playing right now is the minimum people can ask from us. This squad is made to win everything and technically the team is very good. We're going to come out there trying to win every game. What is happening seems very normal to me.

How does it feel to sit on the bench?
I'm not used to it, but it's normal. Partly because I have been injured and on the other hand because I cannot arrive here and say to the coach "Hey you, you have to play me and put the others on the bench because I'm great". All players are great here.

What do you think about the level of the Spanish league?
Well, if you see we're winning every game with 5-0, it could seem as if the level is quite low, but Atlético Madrid, against whom we scored six times, played very good against Liverpool, Villareal is going head-to-head with Manchester United and Madrid is a great team.

Cesc has said that he feels an oldie at Arsenal and that he misses you...
Arsenal has a fantastic team, although I understand what he's saying. I also miss him a lot because he was my best friend, both on the pitch, where we understood each other very good, as off the pitch. Together with Barcelona, Arsenal plays the best football.

If they don't win anything this season, Cesc maybe will get tired of losing and he could come to Barça...
Are you sure?

I'm not. Are you?
No. I'm talking a lot with Cesc, but not about this. He has a good contract and I don't think they want to sell him.

You are recognizing the Henry you played with at Arsenal?
Of course! He's a great guy, a good person and on the pitch he's as direct and straight as in his personal life.

Ruud van Nistelrooy's hopes for a quick return to playing have been dashed after he was told that he requires an operation that will take between six and nine months to recover from.

Carlos Tévez is on Real Madrid's shopping list, according to reports. It has been revealed that they're determined to buy a new forward in the light of Ruud van Nistelrooy's injury and they could try Sir Alex Ferguson's patience again by tracking the unsettled Argentine.

Deco then reflected on his time at Barcelona and recognized that he was one of the players blamed for the club's inability to win a trophy for the past two seasons.
"I simply felt that it was the right time to leave. The problems were becoming more difficult because if the team does win anything for a year it is complicated, but if they do not win something for two years it is impossible," he continued.
"The demands fall more heavily on the most important player, which can be good, but also makes things more difficult."
"I am very happy about the time I spent with Barcelona," he said. "If I had to choose between Portugal, England or Barcelona I would live in Barcelona, because it is a great city.
"That chapter has finished for me, but it is good to say that I never had any problems with anyone; not the players, the directors nor the fans.

Andrei Arshavin, the Zenit St. Petersburg forward, has been photographed with a Blaugrana shirt and made it clear in the summer that his first choice would be a move to Camp Nou, but his hopes of joining the club supported as a boy have now been dashed.
Barça-biased sports daily El Mundo Deportivo is often tipped-off about stories from within the Catalan club - and the paper has revealed Barca’s lack of interest in Arshavin.

The latest reports coming from Buenos Aires suggest that Diego Armando Maradona could be set to step down as coach of Argentina
It was expected that arguably the greatest footballer of all time would commence his role as of December this year, however that may not be the case if the latest reports are true.

The Argentine broadcast media have began to speculate today on a possible surrender of Maradona as coach of the national side, following a heated discussion with AFA president Julio Grondona, in a meeting that was to decide who would assist him in his coaching role.

The 1986 World Player of the Year could resign as a result, following the disagreements that took place earlier today. Maradona had hoped to bring in Oscar Ruggeri as his number two, however Grondona wanted nothing of it, which consequently caused further problems between the two men.
