Offside gave Toure a 10 and Messi a 6 ??
Toure was solid yes, but no way near a 10, Messi did struggle in the beginning of the match, but scored a bueatiful volley and left 3 defenders running behind him, plus another goal from an impossible angel, he literally killed the match ?? and a 6 ? Good Joke Guys, Keep Em Coming !!

You are right FCBFan.

Messi's half volley was the best finish I have seen all this season so far. Simply world class. To run at full speed and put so much accuracy on the ball in such a difficult situation. I haven't seen a goal like that in ages. The best goal of the season so far for me in La Liga.

We did indeed, FCBFan. Messi was better at breaking up our attacks than the Sevilla defense for almost 60 minutes. He ignored open men, dribbled too much and didn't seem to believe he was being marked as tightly as he was. He had a much better last 30 minutes.

The defense killed the match, particularly Marquez and Yaya. No real attacks for the entire second half? The Eto'o goal was plenty. After the Kanoute miss, they were closed down. It would have been a 1-0 win without the Messi goals.

For the record, when we award points, we start from 0 and work up. And we aren't fans of anyone when we award points, either. If you're bad you're bad, no matter who you are.

Messi's first goal was a very good shot, but Xavi's pass made that goal. A lobbed header? Right at a player's feet? Everyone raves about that goal but really, if you'll recall last year's Clasico, even Julio Baptista scores those, and he's not anything approaching best player in the world, right?

The second goal was Hleb's pass, another perfect ball that put Messi in against the keeper. Control, shoot, and it's in. Lots of attackers put that one away. Villa's goal for Spain was an impossible angle. Not Messi's. Sorry.

Eto'o's goal was much more spectacular. Struck out of the air with the outside of the right foot with that much pace and power? Absolute craziness. He made it look easy, to his credit. Eto'o also tracked back on defense, helped apply ball pressure, and was generally excellent.

As for Yaya, watch the match again. We do. Twice, to make sure we have things right. You would be hard pressed to find a single misstep. Further, when you look at the Sevilla attacks that he single-handedly disrupted, yes, he played a perfect match, from control and distribution to defense. He was extraordinary. Shoulder to shoulder to stop Kanoute? Sure. Terrifying Diego Capel into giving up the ball. You bet.

Xavi was every bit as good, even roaming the midfield in almost a holding role. From playing defense to attacking and controlling, it was one of his best matches this season.

Now, if you believe that Messi's previous poor play should be ignored because he got the brace, then yes, a 6 is low. We don't think that over at the Offside. We rate players on the entire game.

And not to worry, we have Messi fans over there who think I'm crazy, as well. But no worries. Pay us a visit, and you'll grow to understand how Isaiah and I think, and how we evaluate matches. Nor do he and I always agree. But the comments section is always very explanatory, and useful.

And it's okay to come over. You aren't cheating on Pep by coming over. We have a mutual admiration society.

Kxevin,

What's your offside website? I tried googling it bug couldn't find it. And how about allabout and oleole?

We're here, BarcaFan:

http://barcelona.theoffside.com/

And for sure, we really are big fans (as Pep knows) of this space. Between news, putting up interviews and compiling information, this is a excellent, and very complementary space to ours.

Thanks Kxevin,

you are the man!!!!

i think we all know the offside is a joke.

But a very good one. You should swing by in person, to see just how good. Might surprise you. But before coming, remember: Things, people and places aren't a joke just because you don't agree with them. Keep that in mind and we'll all get along. We're a pretty friendly lot. It's the tone that we've set.

Hope to see you.

So Hleb deserves a six (the same as Messi) for what, two ball touches?! You can have your favorites, but don't expect to be taken too seriosuly...

has anybody taken their points seriously? No really, your points are a joke! make no mistake about that. Is it any wonder why your points are no where near what REAL columns or websites have?

Messi a 6? The man scored two of the best goals of the season and gets a 6? Toure gets a 10? Thats a laugh. Maybe its time you change your so called "methods" or Like groga said..

i just read this and it made me laugh even harder..

"Messi's first goal was a very good shot, but Xavi's pass made that goal. A lobbed header? Right at a player's feet?"

Really? Xavi is brilliant! thats all there is to say about that. But anyone can fuck up a perfect pass. ANYONE! correct me if im wrong but, you praised Eto'o for his "spectacular" goal, well what about the perfect pass from Messi that he shot wide right? THAT, was a perfect pass. THAT, should have added to the score! So like i said, anyone can fuck up a perfect pass! It takes more "brilliance" to put it in the back of the net than to make a perfect pass. Last time i checked goals won games, not perfect passes that may or may not go in the net!

But then again dont stress too much about our comments to your "ratings" As far as i can tell, no one seems to be taking you seriously.
