Ajax forward Suarez dreaming about Barcelona

Asked about the rumours linking him with several clubs among which Barcelona (read more here), Ajax Amsterdam forward and Uruguay international Luis Suárez (21) has said in an interview with Dutch football site Ons Oranje that he dreams about playing in Spain:

"I have a contract for another three and a half years. I wouldn't mind staying for the fans, the people at Ajax. But my dream is to play for a big club in Spain. Barcelona. Or Real Madrid, together with Huntelaar. So I don't know if I will still play at Ajax next season or if I will be playing in Spain by then. That's football, very uncertain."

Now he suddenly likes Barça as well? Especially after harping about how he likes Madrid a lot?

Thanks but no thanks, at least that's what I feel.

I was thinking that he could become a good signing...until he stated that he'd like to play side by side with Huntelaar at RM. Let's chase Villa or Aguero.

What a dork!

Either you want to play for Barça OR for RM, but if you see both teams as options...

chill guys u dont expect evryone to be a barca fan and he isnt an rm fan either he just wants to play alongside huntelaar. he is a vrry talented player and that is wot matters in the end.ofcourse if he was an rm fan i would say no to him but he isnt

he just wants to have all the doors open, nothing bad in that, real and barca are the best 2 destinations for every player so if one side wants him he will go there its that simple.

he isnt that good to play in barca thought....also would cost us 10-20mil. better fund those money on a real transfer ...kun!!!

He didn't say anything about Madrid (other than this) in teh past days, he was misquoted by pro-Madrid site goal.com. This is the real (and full) quote.

Huntelaar was his teammate until a few weeks ago and his talking to a Dutch journalist, so it's probably normal he talks about Madrid then if he says he dreams about Spain. But he mentoned us first!

either or not for both Barca and the dudes in the white shirts. make up your mind. same goes for Benzema he wants to play in a white shirt - that's fine with me, we don't need him anyway.

i like player with such a ball control. hope they'll go for him

Not entirely sure if Goal.com is pro-Madrid but if pep says this is the original quote then perhaps we can still consider.

The scouts have reported good things about this chap. Whether he joins us is another question altogether.

Pep i have a opinion for Number of The Day

3

the number of direct freekick goals conceeded by Barca from the left hand side of the box
(Betis, Lisbon and Numancia)

Does anyone have an idea about the number of goals scored against us via corners? I do know set pieces are our weak points, but corners in specific I'd like to know..

He wants his cake and to eat it too! Come on you can't tease and try and sleep with two enemies. You choose one or the other. If he is 'hedging his bets' he is playing russian roulette. The most likely scenario I see here is that he won't end up at either club and will probably join Valencia or Athletico.

I haven't watched him apart from this video, but he's skilled, quick, has great off the ball movement, and he can shoot with both feet (although it seems like he prefers his right). For ~12 mil, it would be a great buy.

The only question is, how do you make room for him?

@ blaugranafan
As you may know Ajax also plays 4-3-3. At times I've seen him play Left winger, right winger, and striker (but more of a second striker). So literally there is already room for him. The addition he would make to the squad is just another dangerous player. He needs to be closely marked to prevent him from being effective, which would help us if we were playing with Messi and another striker, because with a man-marking on Messi and another on Suarez + alot of switching positions it will cause headaches. Plus he could be a sub for any position (I'm not sure about this, but I think he could play the third midfielder).

Cheer, Flippy. Actually, I did not know that Ajax plays 4-3-3. I really don't know much about the Eredivisie. So thanks for that information.

I agree with everything you said. Suarez's ability to play all three forward positions was something I did not consider and is another reason Barca should take a good look at him.

But my question was not intended to mean "where do you put Suarez on the pitch," but rather "who do you move out/sell to make room in the squad for Suarez." I probably should have been clearer.

I see Sylvinho and Jorquera moving on after the season, and the club will buy direct replacements for them (Lahm and Asenjo?). Beyond those two, though, I don't see that anybody else would leave for certain. Plus, the club will probably promote Gai in some fashion (maybe split time between first team and B team, like Pedro), if only to keep him from leaving to pastures greener.

Who will he replace`?
Henry has been much of a keyplayer this season and looks like pep wants to have him on the pitch..
Nobody knows if he will leave or tought..

I don't think we should buy Kun,

He's young and very good and would fit perfect on our right flank in the attack.
But we don't know if Barça buys Kun,if he is there to take Eto'os place.
Kun isn't a pure striker, he isn't.

Eto'o leaves, then we need a high class striker that can deliver.
Such as Villa, who is in Spain and just have to adapt to Barça's style.
Good striker but I think he fits better in Valencia's gameplay.
Not so young though.

Benzema, has said that he first was a Barça fan since child and then now he has said that he wants to play for REal..
And his price tag?
Lyon wants overprice for a young talented guy with attitudes problems.

And ofc we have Tevez.
Don't follow Man UTD so much so I don't know how much he scores..
Not so old and by far the cheapest.

Suarez looks like to be another Aguero, not quite as good as kun but good.
I prefer Suarez in front of Kun, Easy.

One think to, Bojan have to come on the second hand next season.
If somebody gets hurt in attack or some, Bojan have to come in and develop!

He is overrated. Anyone with half decent skills can play well in the Dutch league. This guy is a flash in the pan. He doesn't seem loyal and not much of a team player. How many videos like this have we seen??? Hernandes, Thiago Neves the list goes on. He is not a proven star like Kun. I don't think we should take gambles. We should invest in quality and known products. He will lost at least 15 million is he worth that?? Besides he said before that Real is his favourite club.

I'd rather see Silva or Guardado.

Silva cannot score to save his life.
