Barça B: An introduction to Ruben Rochina

source: El Mundo Deportivo

Rubén Rochina (Sagunto, 1991) has found a spot in the Barça Atlètic team of Luis Enrique. Although he wasn't available in the last matches, "Lucho" is well aware of the youngster: "He's only 17 years old, but he has a very promising future and he's always willing to help us", said the manager before the match against Benidorm. Rochina, playing with the Juvenil A, settled the match against Badalona (0-1).

A killer in the box
Rubén arrived at Barça from Valencia for the 2004-05 season as a player for the Infantil A of Sergio Lobera. Last season, in the Juvenil B he excelled as the decisive number '9', a true killer who scored 15 goals before December, which brought him straight to the Juvenil A.

The left-footed Rochina has the qualities to make himself an important number '9', at both Barça and the national team (in May, he became European U-17 Champion). His 182 centimeters of height give him much presence in attack and his good technique makes him impossible to mark when he has the ball in the area.

He has qualities that haven't been overlooked by Luis Milla, manager of the U-19 national team, who saw the match between Barça Atletic and Alzira (2-1), where Rochina scored the winning goal. The very-interested Milla already talked with Alex Garcia, Juvenil A coach, and Luis Enrique.

This kid is left footed, has a strong killer shot, score from free kicks as well.

This first time I saw him play, it immediately reminds me of someone. Who? Rivaldo.

It's good to see that we have some young talents every year that have the chance to make it to our first team and i hope that this guy and his team-mates get their chance next season and i am so proud of Barcelona's youth academy; i feel it's the best in europe alongside Ajax's youth system because to me they bring out some of the best young talents in football and hopefully next season we would see him,Gai and Thiago get their chance at some first etam matches.Barca 4 ever.
