Barcelona preparing bid for left back Evra

British tabloid News of the World claims that Barcelona is interested in Manchester United left back defender and French international Patrice Evra (27).

Barcelona scouts would have made several trips to England to monitor the Frenchman’s form and fitness and the club would be preparing to make a bid of 22,5 million euro° at the end of the current season.

Barcelona would want Evra to replace his French compatriot Eric Abidal and Evra, whose contract with the English champions expires in 2012, could be tempted by the offer.

Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson rates Evra highly but sees Brazilian twins Rafael and Fabio Da Silva as his long-term full-backs and could therefore be willing to cash in on the French defender as he freshens up his squad.

Would be a great transfer, that guy's the best left back in the world!
But i doubt that we're really after him and Ferguson wouldn't let him go either.

would be better if we go after Clichy.... he's equally gudd n he's got lots of age... or else, Zhirkov or Lahm or Bale... Evra is gettin older...

he is quality LB but it's not the best timing to snatch him from manu,
he renewed contract last year.
we would go for maxwell...his contract expires 2010...

He is left footed so and very fast so I rather have him in Barcelona than Lahm although I think Lahm is a better player going forward.

The advantage with Lahm is that he can provide cover for both wingback positions.

Zhirkov adds something different in that he will totally change our dynamics on the left. It wouldn't make sense to hold on to Abidal and buy Evra whereas it would with Zhirkov. I m not sure selling Abidal would be the bet option given his performances this season.

Lahm is, by far, not good enough for Barca, even though he can play on both sides.
He's one of the most overrated players in the whole world. Everyone in Germany is talking about him being world class, but I've seen him playing very quite some times in the past two to three years and he's nowhere near that at all.

Evra in Barca? Very good. But I think is bullshit cause' Ferguson will never let him go. We should go for Lahm and keep Abidal, or we sell Abidal and get another backup for Lahm (and Alves, we're in trouble if he gets injured).
