Asked about the coming transfer period, Barcelona sports director Txiki Begiristain has said in an interview with Catalan radio station Catalunya Ràdio that the club doesn't plan to be very active in the summer:
"If everything goes well, the squad of next year will be similar to the one of this year. We might be the team that spends the least money."
Begiristain also commented on some specific names:
Ribéry
There's nothing going on with Ribéry, I can be as clear as that. We have a great relationship with clubs like Bayern Munich and AC Milan and the people from Bayern can be sure that if we want a player of their team, they will be the first to know. It's an excellent player but there are others who can adapt to the style of Barça.
Eto'o
He's a great player who very easily creates chances. I think it's not fair to ask him to finish 70 or 80 per cent of those. He scored in all competitions and he's still growing. We want him to stay for many more years. He has a contract until 2010 and we've decided to postpone the talks until the end of the season because we don't want any distractions. We only have to focus on the game now.
Benzema
I don't know if he's the star of the future. We already have that player. In Europe, no one can compete with the numbers of Eto'o. You have half a dozen of great strikers but Eto'o has the best numbers.
Henrique
There's a chance he will return but Bayer Leverkusen has asked us if he can stay another year. He is doing well there. We'll see what will happen when the season ends.
Milito
We'll see him out there on the pitch this season.
Henry
He'll stay next season.
Villa and Silva
Valencia had the same financial problems last year but they renewed the contract of both players.
Valdés
People aren't acting right towards him. Watch the dvd of the final in Paris and go mad again. He's a homegrown player, a great profesional and he trains like a best. We're not looking to sign a goalkeeper. The renewal talks have been stopped for a while because we couldn't find a deal.
Bruno Alves
We don't need another central defender.
Messi
It's a spectacular player, the best in the world. And he should be valued for that. If you look at the market, there are players who are worse than him but who earn more. He hasn't asked for a better contract but we're aware that we should be monitoring the issue.

from this what I read, they have no attention ti buy any player in the summer :s, and that they won't sell anyone... and I think Messi deserves to have a highest salary in the world (:

I think that he's just trying to lower the speculations about buy and sell that etc. We'll probably strengthen the left wing, im pretty sure about that.
Gai will get his citizenship next month and hopefully have a role next year.We only need 1 of ribery benzema aguero silva or villa if etoo and henry are staying.And hleb can leave. That will give us a front line of Messi Etoo Henry Bojan Gai and 1 other. Henry can take a smaller role and bojan and gai will hopefully provide us with the quality off the bench
this guy doesn't wanna leak anythin out... we are sitting in a precarious position n he just wants all rumours to go away so tat the players will think only about the game... fair enuf.... lets see wat exactly happens in the summer... i expect atleast 50 mil spent on new players and only Hleb looks like leaving right now... noone else... 1 GK-2nd choice,LB,LF are a must in the summer... another attacking player or a RB will be a bonus...
Best thing the man could do. Steady the ship. There have been lots of rumors floating around recently; Ribery, Benzema, Aguero, Van Perie, Fabergas. These rumors are bound to unsettle our current crop because aside from a VERY select few if we do buy new players we will sell players too. Eto'o, Henry, Guddy, Hleb, Keita, Sylvinho, Yaya, Abidal...they have all been linked to exits at the end of the season, even the consistently good players like Yaya and Eto'o. Right now we need no distractions, no rumors, no speculation, just football. The only thing on each players mind should be how we beat the next team. This will settle the players a bit, because even if it is not true it will silence a lot of the rumours out there. Well done Txiki...
The good: Henry will stay next season.
Eto'o sounds like their priority to be signed.
The bad: Benzema and Ribery don't sound like big targets
The ugly: Valdes will be resigned because he's great in training and he's a youth team player.
Please Txiki stop living in the past and realize that La Masia never produced good goalies! Buy a freaking world class goalie already!

but no doubts that some new names will come in the summaer. Left back for sure because the contract of Sylvinho is finishing this summer.
I am not sure att all that the future of players like Eto'o, gudjohnsen, Hleb, Pinto and even
Marquez is 100 sure.
It will be a hot summer, almost as usel.
Hey just want to add that Silva is good as a midfielder but not as a Left winger as he doesn't score much. So he really should'nt be considerd.
What about Keirrison? He said he favors us over other teams.
this transfer window should come down to more than just what barca want in the summer, what i mean by that is benzema and ribery are looking to move to bigger clubs if we decide that our team doesn't need those two it will mean other big clubs will sign them.. we should use the transfer market and stop rivals like manchester and real from signing the best players. it would be a huge mental blow if steal ribery or benzema from right underneath real's nose and barca have a tendantcy to not prepare for the worst.. hence why we still don't have a proper replacement for RB, LB, LW and even CF, i didn't mention RW, cause messi doesn't play we should change formation and the way we play. we should sign ribery and kerrison and also hernanes and zhirkov and asenjo

Ribery is better than silva I think, scores more goals, delivers more assists, more pace, stronger..
I also think hleb,sylvinho will leave. As far as i'm concerned we also get rid of henry (way to expensive)and gudjohnsen.
Gai wassn't a fixed starter in barça athletic so i don't think he will be in the first team next season. but they can switch between barça athletic wingers jeffren pedro and gai. We could also get dembele from az, very strong and creative striker.Lacks goals though
yeah i think we're in for some significant signings but i dont expect any big splash unless eto'o leaves. anywho i like that txiki is tight lipped about the whole transfer thing, we dont want any more distraction than whats already out there. blah i hate the spanish media :(
