Toure doesn't want to leave Barcelona

Asked about the rumours linking him with a move to Arsenal where he could join his older brother Kolo (read more here), Barcelona defensive midfielder and Ivory Coast international Yaya Touré (25) has said in an interview with British sports site Setanta that he wants to stay at Barcelona:

"Two or three years ago I had the opportunity to move there. But at present time my target is to carry on progressing here. To me, it is the main thing.

At present time I think that Barcelona is a bigger club than Arsenal. Everybody knows that it is one of the greatest clubs on the planet. The beautiful game is ours, it is part of our tradition, but Arsenal are also a top club. At the end of the day, my objective has always been playing for a top club, and it is still the case.

Him linking up with me down here would be absolutely perfect. In life, you never know what is going to happen or what the future holds for you. As far as I am concerned, I had no idea that I was going to sign with Barcelona one day. He experienced difficult moments this season, but Kolo is an intelligent boy who thinks a lot.

He is a very courageous person who can cope with difficulties. I do not know what did happen. Sometimes you go through hard moments, you and the coach are not on the same wavelength, but it is part of the game and at the end of the day, if you work hard it always pays off."

Look, lets not start this again. All I said was if a deal cannot be reached no player is bigger than the club and somebody else would replace him. That in no way means that I dont want him to stay. When ronaldinho was here nobody thought he could ever leave and yet he did. Maradona left, Romario left, Ronaldo left, Rivaldo left, Ronaldinho left and many other players who will be long remembered after yaya toure came and left. FC Barcelona is bigger than any player. Should we renew him, HELL YES. If we cant, we will move on and find somebody else.

Exactly like Anonymous said, Yaya shutdown every one of Chelsea's midfield players yesterday. He chased Essien and Lampard off the ball numerous times. Won so many headers, shutdown so many attacks, and kept the ball moving. ALL BY HIMSELF. He is a beast.

Thanks for your opinion, elia. Much appreciated and don't worry about critizing.

Having post-match comments is certainly an option but the thing is: I want to bring quality, so if I bring the post-match comments, I only want to bring the best comments (so not the predictable ones) and I want to have them translated from the original language (so no copy/paste). For that, you need more people to help out. We'll see what we can do in the summer to reorganize things a bit for next season and this suggestion will certainly be taken into account!

We never had a player like him in our entire history.

Yaya is the beast of beasts. KEEP HIM FOR LIFE, DON'T REPEAT REAL MADRID'S MISTAKE WITH MAKELELE !

Anon is spot on about Yaya. He is one of the best holding mid fielders in the world. We must keep him and not let him slip away like Real Madrid did with Makelele.

hail teh beast! seriously he kept 3 players quite all by himself n nt just any 3 lampard, ballack, n essien. i had thoughts tht maybe if we sell toure to man city then we can make a lot of money out of him, bt no way hell no. he truly is a beast, a man machine. awesome job by him.
